പുത്തന്പുര
തറവാട്ടിന്റെ അറിയപ്പെടുന്ന ചരിത്രം തുടങ്ങുന്നത് പണിക്കവീട്ടില് സെയ്ത് മുഹമ്മദ്
എന്ന കാരണവരില് നിന്നാണ്. പഴയ കൊച്ചി സംസ്ഥാനത്തിലെ, എറണാകുളം പട്ടണത്തിനു
അടുത്തുള്ള വടുതല എന്ന സ്ഥലമായിരുന്നു അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ സ്വദേശം. ധനാഢ്യനായ ഒരു
വ്യാപാരി ആയിരുന്ന അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് അന്ന് ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് ഇന്ത്യയുടെ ഭാഗമായിരുന്ന
മലബാറിലും കച്ചവടബന്ധങ്ങള് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നതായി അനുമാനിക്കുന്നു.
ഈ ബന്ധത്തിന്റെ
തുടര്ച്ചയായി കരുതാം, മലബാര് ജില്ലയിലെ പൊന്നാനി താലൂക്കിന്റെ ഭാഗമായിരുന്ന
പാടൂര് ദേശത്ത് നിന്നായിരുന്നു അദ്ദേഹം വിവാഹം കഴിച്ചത്. വലിയകത്ത് (അവുത്തെ) ആലി
എന്നവരുടെ സഹോദരി “പുത്തന് പുരയില്” ദൈനു ആയിരുന്നു വധു.
ജ. സെയ്ത് മുഹമ്മദ്
വിവാഹ ശേഷം പാടൂരില് താമസമാക്കി. ധര്മിഷ്ഠനും മത ഭക്തനും ആയിരുന്ന അദ്ദേഹത്തിനു
സമൂഹത്തില് വളരെയധികം സ്ഥാനം നേടാന് കഴിഞ്ഞു. അക്കാലത്ത് പാടൂരില്
പ്രതാപികളായിരുന്ന സാദാത്തു (തങ്ങന്മാര്) ക്കളുമായുള്ള സൌഹൃദം അതിനു ഏറെ ഉതകുകയും
ചെയ്തു. പാടൂരില് ആദ്യമായി ഒരു മസ്ജിദ് നിര്മിക്കുന്നതിനായി സ്ഥലം വഖ്ഫ് ചെയ്ത്
പ്രമുഖരില് ഒരാള് അദ്ദേഹമായിരുന്നു എന്നാണു അറിവ്. ഇന്ന് പാടൂരിലെ ജുമാ
മസ്ജിദും ഖബര്സ്ഥാനും നില്ക്കുന്ന
സ്ഥലമായിരുന്നു അത്.
മലബാറില് പൊതുവെ
മുസ്ലിംകളുടെ ഇടയില് ഒരു കാലത്ത് നിലനിന്നിരുന്ന മരുമക്കത്തായ സമ്പ്രദായം
കാരണമായിരിക്കാം, ജ. സെയ്ത് മുഹമ്മദ് - ദൈ ദൈനു ദമ്പതിമാരുടെ സന്തതി പരമ്പര
“പുത്തന്പുരക്കാര്” എന്ന് അറിയപ്പെട്ടു. അവര് താമസമാക്കിയ വിടിന്റെ പേര് കൂടി
കൂട്ടിച്ചേ ര്ത്തായിരിക്കണം, “രായംമരക്കാര് വീട്ടില് പുത്തന്പുരയില്” എന്നായിരുന്നു തറവാട്ടു
പേരായി ഉപയോഗിച്ചു വന്നത്.
ഈ ദാമ്പത്യത്തില്
രണ്ട് ആണ് മക്കളും, നാല് പെണ്മക്കളും ഉണ്ടായി. മൂത്ത മകള് ദൈനവയെ ജ. കുളങ്ങരകത്ത്
പുത്തന്പുരയില് അവുതല് ആണ് വിവാഹം കഴിച്ചത്. അദ്ദേഹവും വളരെ സമ്പന്നനും
അറിയപ്പെടുന്ന വ്യാപാരിയും മാത്രമല്ല, മത സാഹിത്യ രംഗത്ത് വലിയ പ്രാഗത്ഭ്യം
ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന ഒരു വ്യക്തിയും കൂടി ആയിരുന്നു.
പ്രതാപത്തില്
ജീവിച്ച അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്, വേനല് കാലങ്ങളില്, കെട്ടു വള്ളത്തില് ആലുവയിലേക്ക് ഉല്ലാസ
യാത്രക്ക് പോകുന്ന പതിവുണ്ടായിരുന്നത്രേ.
ദൈനവ എന്നവരുടെ മരണാനന്തരം
അവരുടെ ഇളയ സഹോദരി, കുഞ്ഞുമ്മ എന്നവരെ ജ. അവുതല് വിവാഹം ചെയ്തു. അതീവ ശരീര
സൌന്ദര്യവും ഉത്തമ സ്വഭാവ വൈശിഷ്ടവും ഒത്തിണങ്ങിയ വ്യക്തിയായിരുന്നു അവര്.
വറുതിയും പട്ടിണിയും നേരിടുന്ന കാലങ്ങളില് പാവപ്പെട്ടവര്ക്ക് സഹായം
ചെയ്യുന്നതില് സന്തോഷം കണ്ടെത്തിയ ഒരാളായിരുന്നുവത്രേ അവര്. രാവിലെ മുതല്
സായാഹ്നം വരെ കുനിഞ്ഞു നിന്ന് അവര് സ്വയം ഭക്ഷണം വിളമ്പി നല്കിയിരുന്നു എന്ന്
മുതിര്ന്നവര് പറഞ്ഞു കേട്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്.
ഈ രണ്ടു താവഴികളിലെ
പിന്മുറക്കാര്ക്ക് ഒത്തുകൂടുന്നതിനും കുടുംബ ബന്ധങ്ങളും സൌഹാര്ദ്ദവും നിലനിറുത്തുന്നതിനും
വേണ്ടി രൂപവത്കൃതമായതാണ് “പുത്തന്പുരയില് കുടുംബ വേദി”.
ജ. അവുതല്
എന്നവരുടെ മക്കളില് വളരെ പ്രഗത്ഭനും ഏറെ പ്രശസ്തനുമായ ഒരു വ്യക്തിയായിരുന്നു ജ.
രായംമരക്കാര് വീട്ടില് പുത്തന്പുരയില് ബാവു എന്നാ ആര്. പി. ബാവു.
അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ശരിയായ പേര് ഷാഹുല് ഹമീദ് എന്നായിരുന്നു. പുത്തന്പുര കുടുംബത്തിന്റെ
ഐക്യവും ഭദ്രതയും നിലനിര്ത്തുന്നതില് അദ്ദേഹം വളരെ ശുഷ്കാന്തി കാണിച്ചിരുന്നു.
മത വിദ്യാഭ്യാസവും ഭേദപ്പെട്ട നിലയില്
ഭൌതിക വിദ്യാഭ്യാസവും സിദ്ധിച്ചിരുന്നു. നാട്ടിലെ രാഷ്ട്രീയ-സാമൂഹ്യ-മത രംഗങ്ങളില്
ശക്തമായ സാന്നിധ്യമായിരുന്നു അദ്ദേഹം.ജാതി മത വ്യത്യാസങ്ങള് ഇല്ലാതെ സൌഹൃദങ്ങള്
സൂക്ഷിച്ച വ്യക്തി. കുണ്ടഴിയൂര് അംശം പഞ്ചായത്ത് വൈസ് പ്രസിഡന്റ്, അംഗം,
ഗ്രാമക്കോടതി ജഡ്ജ്, എന്നീ നിലകളില് സേവനം അനുഷ്ഠിച്ചു.
Known history of the Puthenpura Clan begins about one and a
half century ago, with an elder known as Janab Panickaveettil Saidumohammed
Sahib. He hailed from Vaduthala, near to Eranakulam, which was part of the erstwhile
Cochin State. However, he married from the Padoor Desam, which formed part of
the then Ponnani Taluk of the Malabar District of the State of Madras, a
province in British India. The bride happened to be Puthenpurayil Dainu, sister
of Valiyakath (Avuthe) Ali.
A rich trader – he believed to be – Janab Saidumohammed
resettled permanently in Padoor after this marriage. Pious and charitable, he
soon became influential in the society. This was helped by the fact that he
became close to the Sadaths (Thangals) who formed the elite of the desam. He
was said to be one amongst the landlords who donated (by waqf) land to build
the first masjid in Padoor. That was the place where the todays’ Padoor Juma
Masjid and qabarsthan stand.
Perhaps thanks to the then prevailing maternal ancestry
system generally followed by the Muslims too, in Malabar their descents are
known as the Puthenpurayil Clan. They
formally used the “Rayammarakkar Veettil Puthenpurayil” surname perhaps adding
the identity of the place where they lived.
They had two sons and four daughters in that union. The
elder daughter, Dainawa, was married to Kulangarakath Puthenpurayil Avuthal, a
rich trader himself. As Dainawa was died some time later, he then married her
immediate sister, Kunjimma who was well known for her beauty as well for her
charity.
The Puthenpurayil Kutumba Vedi indents to provide a platform
that unites descendants of Janab Kulangarakath Puthenpurayil Avuthal and his
wives Danawa and Kunjimma.
The most eminent son of the family – this far – has been
Janab Rayammarakkar Veettil Puthenpurayil Bavoo Sahib (R P Bavoo) 1872 – 1963. Janab R V Mohammedunni, former
member of the Guruvayoor Township Management Council and R P Moidutty, former
General Secretary of the Thrissur District Muslim League Committee and many
more prominent personalities are amongst the members of this family.
